Seems like everything’s fair game in this troubled economy and one of the tools of the trade is getting targeted. The lowly teleprompter, the speech-displaying piece of glass we see all over the sides of the podium is under attack for, too much presence?! The piece of glass is actually a small part of the thingy’ and either a monitor or projector provides the actual rolling speech for these people in government to read. Former President Clinton got humorous when the wrong speech got showed during one State of the Nation Address and now President Obama is being criticized for too much use.
From the start, President Obama has been the player of words with promises after promises that the American people saw as the breath of fresh air they have been looking for in a long time. From the campaign to the White House, the seat of power of the so-called most powerful man on earth, he goes from speech to speech wooing the public on his plans and current status of his government. Obama is the youngest president to ever take to the white house and with that comes innovation, first with his insistence to keep his unsecured Blackberry and now with his total reliance on teleprompters. Maybe his speeches are too long and eloquent that they are quite hard to remember/memorize or maybe his prematurely graying hair(proven by the White House barber that he has indeed gotten more of the age/stress defining hair condition) has started to affect his memory.
We can hail the teleprompter as an unseen hero for many a president and president hopefuls for it has saved their necks time and time again when the words just can’t seem to get out. Cat caught the tongue, no problem, look natural and just read the thing as it scrolls along with several times over proofread versions of the initial speech’s draft. Maybe he’s just being careful not to fumble up the words, or maybe he’s beginning to realize that the economy isn’t going to be an easy fix, even for the guy who promised so much “CHANGE”. Auto makers are going bankrupt, the Federal Government has trillions of dollars in deficit, the economy is getting worse, the two wars are sticking into the fray and health care is now in the works, that’s a lot of work for one man and his cabinet but he promises he’ll fix it all. Give him some slack people, leave the teleprompter alone for it’s merely a piece of glass designed to make life easier for the man and focus on what matters the most, the man who’s on the podium speaking the words!
